Sap13 Pengertian dan Contoh Kalimat Reported Speech

13. Pengertian dan Contoh Kalimat Reported Speech

Pengertian Direct Indirect Speech

Direct speech adalah suatu kalimat yang diucapkan secara langsung oleh pembicara yang dalam penulisannya disertai dengan tanda aphostrof di awal dan akhir kalimatnya sebagaimana teks dialog atau percakapan.

Contoh:
Andi bilang kepada saya:
kamu adalah orang yang sangat aku cintai
Andi says to me: “you are the one I love very much
Sedangkan Indirect speech adalah suatu kalimat yang menggambarkan perkataan orang lain atau dirinya sendiri secara tidak langsung (tidak persis seperti yang dikatakan pada saat diucapkan).
Seperti jika kita merubah contoh kalimat di atas maka indirect speechnya menjadi:
Andi bilang kepada saya bahwa saya adalah orang yang sangat ia cintai
.
Andi says to me that I am the one he love so much

Contoh:

Yes-no question

(Apakah kamu makan kueku?)
She wanted to know if I’d eaten her cake.
Information
question
“Who is the winner?”
(Siapa pemenangnya?)
He asked me who the winner was.

Cara Mengubah Direct Menjadi Reported Speech
Pada dasarnya, direct speech diubah menjadi reported speech dengan menghilangkan tanda baca kutip, menghilangkan huruf kapital didalam kalimat,  menambahkan that (optional), mengubah pronoun (menjadi orang ketiga), memodifikasi verb, mengoreksi time reference (waktu yang disebutkan dalam pembicaraan) dan/atau menambahkan whether atau if . Berikut adalah beberapa penjelasannya .

Time References
Perbandingan time references pada direct dan reported speech adalah sebagai berikut.
Direct Speech
Reported Speech
here
there
last month/year
·         the month/year before
·         the preceding month/year
·         the previous month/year
next month/year
·         a month/year later
·         the following month/year
·         the next month/year

(Akankah saya menerima paket tsb besok?)
He asked if he would receive the packet the following day.
“I have to return the book two days ago.”
(Saya harus mengembalikan buku tsb dua hari lalu.)
She said that she had to return the book two days earlier.

Menambahkan whether atau if
Whether atau if ditambahkan untuk menyampaikan kalimat yes-no question yang telah didengar sebelumnya. Yes-no question merupakan bentuk pertanyaan yang membutuhkan jawaban yes atau no.

“Do you have a little time?”
(Apa kamu punya sedikit waktu?)

Jawaban dari pertanyaan pada direct speechYes, I do atau No, I don’t
“Have you heard the news?”
(Sudahkah kamu mendengar berita tsb?)
She wanted to know whether I had heard the news.
Jawaban dari pertanyaan pada direct speechYes, I have atau No, I haven’t

Kalimat
tersebut tidak diubah atau ditambah.
Contoh :
·         Erfin said, “I am so happy”.
·         They said, “We have watched football game”.

Indirect Speech adalah kalimat yang berasal dari kalimat langsung yang diceritakan
kembali dalam bentuk yang lain.
Contoh :
·         Erfin said that he was so happy
·         They said that they had watched football game.

Catatan :
Jika Kata Kerja dalam induk kalimat bentuknya adalah PRESENT dan PRESENT PERFECT
atau adanya suatu keterangan yang umum pada induk kalimat, maka tidak ada
perubahan waktu dalam Kalimat tidak langsung.

Contoh :
·         She asks me, “Are you sleepy?” She asks me wether I am sleepy
·         He has told us, “I am hungry.” He told us that he is hungry
·         She told me,“the sun rises in the east”.

She told me that the sun rises in the east
Tetapi apabila Kata Kerja dalam kalimat bentuknya selain dari PRESENT dan
PRESENT PERFECT maka terjadi perubahan waktu pada Kalimat tidak langsung.
Contoh :
a. Simple Present menjadi Simple Past
·         He told me, “I go to work everyday.”
·         He told me that he went to work everyday.
b. Present Continuous menjadi Past Continuous
·         She told me, “I am playing music now”.
·         She told me that she was playing music then.
c. Present Perfect menjadi Past Perfect
·         They told me. “We have bought a car”.
·         They told me that they had bought a car.
d. Simple Past menjadi Past Perfect
·         He told me, “I went to Bandung yesterday”.
·         He told me that he had gone to Bandung yesterday.
e. Simple Future menjadi Future Past
·         He told me, “I will go to university next year”.
·         He told me that he would go to university the following year.
f. Future Past menjadi Future Past Perfect
·         She told me, “I should go there if I were you.”
·         She told me that she would have gone there if she had been me.
